Becca’s tribute to Jane.

On a beautiful sunny March spring day our dear friend Jane Sauer’s memorial was planned. As friends gathered in the beautiful sanctuary of the church and music surrounded our thoughts as we remembered our times shared with Jeff and Jane, “Becca” Jane’s most beautiful llama walked down the center isle adorned with purple tassels, flowers and a ribbon sash. Her head held high, ears alert and in such a calm dignified manner she proceeded to the front of the sanctuary and turned and greeted everyone with a tilt of her head. As the service preceded Becca would at times gently give kisses to the family and would look at Jeff and nuzzle him in his time of grief.
On the table a photo of Jane sat and at times it was as if Becca would look at the photo, smell the flowers, and go over give Jeff a reassuring kiss.
As Becca would stare intently in the area of the pulpit we wondered was she thinking of Jane or did God send a “calming angle” for Becca to know that everything would be ok. As the minister would comment on Jane’s life Becca would turn and look at him as if to give her approval.
As Jane
was always the hostess making sure everyone had what they needed Becca assumed
that responsibility for this special moment, allowing everyone to feel comforted
as they gazed upon this magnificent creature sharing her love with those around
her. To soften the sadness and grief of the loss of Jane as you would look into
her soft eyes and elegant stature of an animal that had brought Jeff and Jane so
much enjoyment and love.
Life will continue for Becca and Jeff and God will surely strengthen the bond of love between them as they comfort each other and remember our beloved Jane.
Sometimes we are ask, “why llamas”, for this we have an answer, “ to love and for them to love us”.
